Having been an FLexercise teacher for over 30 years, and when I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2018 it was a natural progression to start teaching classes for people with Parkinson’s, and I did a specialist Parkinson's training with PWR!Moves. Living with the disease, I know first-hand the importance of using exercise as a tool to maintain mobility and function. My background as an exercise professional has empowered me in dealing with a Parkinson’s diagnosis and helped me reduce the impact of the symptoms in my daily life. Through my work with people with Parkinson's I have observed directly how exercise can modify and improve symptoms.
I also teach three fun and vibrant FLexercise classes targeted at the over 50s. I trained as an FLexercise teacher in Ireland and have been teaching community classes ever since first in Ireland, then Oxford and since the late 1990s in London UK. I have taught all age groups from university students to women in their 80s. I currently focus on teaching classes for over 50s. Through teaching my classes I have observed at first hand the health benefits of exercise; aches and pains are reduced, balance improves, mental health issues are less acute, class members become more body aware and most importantly people have fun and enjoy the social experience and make friends for life.
